Mall Directory & Interactive Wayfinding Service

A dark directory in a shopping center reads as neglect to every shopper who walks past it. We install, repair, and maintain interactive directories and digital wayfinding systems for malls, mixed-use developments, campuses, and large facilities.

What we service

  • Freestanding interactive directory kiosks, single and double-sided
  • Wall-mounted and recessed wayfinding displays
  • Large-format concourse displays and video walls
  • Media players, controllers, and the network behind them
  • Touch overlays, PCAP screens, and protective glass
  • Enclosures, mounts, and anchoring in high-traffic public space

Common directory failures

Directories live in public space, run continuously, and often sit in daylight or near an entrance where temperature swings. That combination produces a consistent set of faults.

  • Touch overlay failures and unresponsive zones from wear or impact
  • Displays washed out, dimmed, or blacked out from thermal stress and failed cooling
  • Media players locked up, unresponsive, or off the network after a site change
  • Cracked glass and enclosure damage from carts, cleaning equipment, and vandalism
  • Loose mounts and enclosure hardware that turn into a safety issue
  • Content stuck on an old version because the player lost its connection
Content vs. hardware Your CMS vendor owns what appears on screen. We own the screen, the player, the enclosure, the power, and the network path that gets content to it — and we coordinate with the CMS team when a fault sits on the line between the two.

Installation and replacement

Replacing a directory in an operating shopping center is a scheduling problem as much as a technical one. We work overnight and before open, coordinate with center management and security, keep the work area barricaded and clean, and remove the old unit and packaging the same night.

  • Site survey with sightlines, power, data, and foot-traffic flow
  • Enclosure and pedestal mounting with anchoring to spec
  • Display, player, and touch overlay installation and calibration
  • Network connectivity and CMS activation with the content vendor
  • Overnight and before-open work windows
  • Old unit removal and disposal

Preventive maintenance for centers

A maintenance route across a center's directories catches the cooling, mounting, and connectivity problems that produce emergency calls during holiday traffic. We clean, test touch response across the whole panel, verify content is current, check enclosure hardware, and report per unit.

How a job runs

Same sequence every time, so you know what happens after you send a ticket.

Walk the center

We inventory every directory and display by location, note access constraints, and document current condition.

Schedule around traffic

Work windows overnight or before open, coordinated with center management and security.

Service and verify

Repair or install, then test touch response across the full panel and confirm content is live and current.

Report

Per-unit photo report to center management, with a flag on any unit trending toward failure.

Questions we get

Can you work overnight so we do not disrupt shoppers?

Yes. Most of our directory work happens overnight or before the center opens. We coordinate with center management and security on access and keep the area barricaded and clean.

Do you handle the content on the directory?

Content usually lives with the property's CMS vendor. We handle the display, player, touch overlay, enclosure, power, and network, and coordinate with the content team when a fault crosses the line.

Can you replace just the touch overlay, or does the whole unit need to go?

Often just the overlay or the display. We diagnose the specific failed component rather than quoting a full replacement by default, which is usually the difference between a service call and a capital expense.

Do you service directories at properties other than malls?

Yes — office towers, medical campuses, universities, convention centers, transit facilities, and mixed-use developments all run the same class of equipment.

Ready to get this equipment back online?

Send the site details and we will come back with a dispatch window, not a sales call.
